Light of truth, Inc. (LOT) is a not-for-profit corporation established to educate the public about the teachings of Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church. LOT was awarded a permit to build a radio station in Lake Placid. After we launch WCLP 98.3 FM, LOT will focus on building a sound studio to produce local Catholic programing.
WCLP will broadcast national programming from EWTN, as well as our own local productions and public service announcements for church, school, business, and community activities. Podcasts of local programming will also be available through this website.
WCLP was the brainchild of John Fehlner a native of the Adirondacks for the last 30 years. He responded to an ad placed by the Catholic Radio Association, calling for people like himself to spearhead new Catholic radio stations nationwide. With the guidance of the Catholic Radio Association, John has formed LOT and acquired a permit to build WCLP from the FCC. St. Agnes Parish in Lake Placid has generously donated space in their bell tower for the antenna, and local Catholic parishioners and organizations such as the Knights of Columbus and the Catholic Daughters have offered their support.
All that remains is to purchase the start-up equipment and WCLP will be on the air!
John Fehlner and Maura Hearden met online through Catholic Match.com in the summer of 2013. By the summer of 2014, they were married and eagerly lending their talents to various church ministries.
John Fehlner, Chairman of the Board for LOT, is a retired manager for the Federal Bureau of Prisons and is currently enrolled in the deacon formation program for the diocese of Ogdensburg. He has donated much time and talent to the church in the form of teaching CCD and RCIA, serving on various parish and diocesan committees, and fulfilling ministerial capacities such as Eucharistic minister, lector, and server. A talented manager who enjoys “behind-the-scenes” work, John’s skills and interests are a fine compliment to Maura’s.
Maura Hearden Fehlner, Vice President of Programming Content, holds a Ph.D. in Religious Studies from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI and was an assistant professor of theology at DeSales University near Allentown, PA until John whisked her away to the Adirondacks. Now, when she’s not working with John on the radio station, she uses her training to teach online and provide retreats and parish talks. Maura also holds an M.F.A. in theater and is looking forward to using her “show biz” skills on the air.

Help evangelize the “North Country”!
You can help to spread the treasures of the Catholic faith by making your donation through the Paypal button on this web site. We need to raise $25,000 within the next year to purchase good quality equipment for our station. Any amount that you can spare, whether its $5, $10, $50, $100, or $1,000 will help the cause—and if you can’t help us financially, we ask that you might still keep us in your prayers. May Jesus and His Blessed Mother hold you close to their hearts!
